Oh and if the wood is still slightly green it does it too and soft wood is a bugger for it.

Your tools might need a little sharpen, but it also can be because the change in grain direction so your cutting against the grain and it pulls it out sometimes.

I've never used that make befor but it looks limited on what diameter you can turn. Record lathes, axminster are good ones. Depends on how much you want to spend really.

Fuel filter in the tank ?? I had one doing simular things to that and it worked better when you unscrewed the petrol cap when going as there was a build up of pressure.
