  1. Nobody wants to deface a statue of Earl Grey. Only scum drink fosters.
  2. My brother had one of those:
  3. Newcastle yesterday: Why on earth the fascist knuckle draggers were 'protecting' a statue that is 30 odd metres tall and dedicated to someone who helped abolish slavery, I don't know. How to protect a monument:
  4. I've no idea. They could have been built by paid workers or soldiers. They could have been built with slave labour. They could have been built by devotees of a cult. The list goes on.
  5. Government scientists were warned to go into full lockdown two weeks before measures were brought in UK.NEWS.YAHOO.COM The report warned that there could be 1.7 million deaths if the government did not shift its strategy.
  6. I suppose that Saville should be remembered for his philanthropy if that's the case. I disagree. All this media-driven statue clatter is detracting from what BLM are about. Which is protesting against police murdering black people.
  7. I don't know the answer to that. They've got rid of statues of Hitler and that seems to have gone down alright. They got rid of Jimmy Saville. Thatcher and Churchill next. There's no evidence that the pyramids were built by slaves.
  8. Do you think they could have done anything differntly that would have led to less deaths when they made decisions three months ago, based on the data they had at the time? I think that a lockdown and closing of our borders earlier on might have seen us in a better postition in terms of deaths. Based on the charts that were available at the time. What do you think?
  9. That would depend on the dataset(s). I had to trawl through statistics when I did my degree, it wasn't much fun. What would you change in terms of the way the government has handled things?
  10. Clarity and consistency in Government would help.
  11. I tend to ignore the US news, when possible, and focus on issues closer to home.
  12. Me too. You must remember though that the people doing their VE celebrations and jaunts to the beach will have caused a similar spike. Cummings has alot to answer for. Which he never will answer for. Try and stay away from extreme publications on the net.
  13. They should get rid of monuments to people with shady pasts. Whack them in the empty houses of parliament when they build that new one in Milton Keynes, as a permanent reminder of what happens when the ruling classes get above their station.
  14. I dunno. I think that racism is an unnecessary factor in 21st century life. I'd like to see the end of it. While they play us against ourselves we'll always be subject to divide and conquer. I think now is as good a time as any to get to the bottom of things.
  15. Mate, Dr Fauci, is an American advisor. I'm more interested in what is going on over here. Do you think Trump is a Christian? I think he's a fraud. And aye, I do believe in science because it's easy to prove or disprove things by applying the same models and seeing if the results tally. I'm not about to believe people who said a month ago that the 'R' has to drop below a certain level, only to renege on that and say that now their 5 tests have been satisfied, lets all make some bubbles.
  16. I was trying to convey that pitching one set of slavery against another is essentially deflection from the matters at hand.
  17. I'm inclined to believe the scientists. They tend to provide sources for their reasoning.
  18. That's the spirit!
  19. I've been on the bones of my arse and I've had the wolves at my door more than once, so I empathise with your situation. There seems to be long lasting effects from the damage Covid does. I had something similar at the beginning of March (I'll find out if I've had it in two weeks when antibody tests become available to the general public). My lungs are still bad from it and my eyeball is bloodshot from the coughing I had. I'm reasonably fit, 43 years old. There are going to be long term repercussions from this. I have suffered massively in terms of coin. I was about to launch the greatest tree surveying company there has ever been. That's all on the back burner for now. If I have to, I'll get a proper job.
