  1. User instructions. Mine didn't even come in a bag/box!!
  2. As far as I know it is an italian one made by a company called Basket, though I could be wrong. I have been up in that very lifter a couple of times during my early days in the trees. Nice to see you here Dean Kev
  3. Been out all day and was wet though to the skin before 9. Struggling for days around child care at the minute so working every day possible come rain or shine. The lad that works with me would walk knee deep in sh1t for his money so a bit of rain is nothing to him.
  4. Wrong! It is your right to own a shotgun and the police have to have a good reason to not grant your certificate (criminal record, etc). I got my cert 5 years ago (renewal due in a couple of months) based on the fact my father in law who lives 100 miles away offered me the opertunity of some duck shooting and in order to be the right side of the law I needed my own certificate to be able to go to the ponds without him. It was granted with no reservations and without the need to have a shotgun cabinet ( I had one anyway but it wasn't checked). I now own 3 shotguns and use in excess of 10,000 cartridges a year on game, vermin and clays I will admit it is easier when you apply to say you want the gun for clay pigeon shooting, you will also have an interview with a fire arms officer who will ask why you want a gun. Clay shooting is the easiest route to ownership. Once granted you can use the shotgun basically wherever you deem it safe to use it and there is no restriction on what you can shoot (provided it is legal of course) I am now applying for a section 1 license (full rifles). This differs from the shotgun license in that you need to prove good reason for ownership of each and every rifle you apply for. (with a shotgun cert you can buy as many as you want but get to 10+ and questions might be asked). I have shooting rights over a number of local farms and provide pest control services hence the need for rifles. I will have to have all the land approved by the fire arms department and the license I get will state which guns can be used on what land and for what purpose. Much more controlled. Go for it though, it isn't a cheap past time but is bloody good fun and provided you have been good with the regards to the old bill you will have no issues in getting a certificate
  5. I have to agree with edenarb. If only half the registered members bought 1 line at £5 there would be the best part of a grand going to the charity. If everyone chipped in that £5 then the total would be nearer £1800. Looking at it the otherway, i've bought a few lines so stand a fair chance of picking up a few prizes..... If any of the 'overseas visitors' want tickets let me know as I would be willing to pay UK£ to the charity in exchange for $ to me via paypal. Kev
  6. I've got the before stitches picture too but wil only post it with Petes permission. Definately a do not view while eating
  7. New or second hand? I know of a Navara going for sensible money
  8. See here for details on exporting Landies to the states http://www.landrovercentre.com/usa/welcome.htm Kev
  9. To save me trailing through the fungus ID websites (I've lost the link to my favorite anyway) can anyone help ID this? Found at the base of an Ash. Apologies for the quality of the pics. Phone camera and a sh1t one at that.
  10. Daily driver. Now has high capacity back, sign written doors and is looking a bit more used
  11. A lad at work who likes his women bigger than average says 'a feint heart never fukced a pig'
  12. Doing well, still planning on coming to see you later this year and still stuck in my usual dilema of which career path to follow.
  13. At the chemical works we have investors in people certs everywhere. From the input we receive at work re investors in people the company is required to provide 48 hours training per year to each employee and be able to prove there is the possibility of progression though the ranks as a benefit of that training e.g. you take on a new body with no arb skills and start them on the ground. If you spend a week training them to climb (send them on CS38/9) and another few days watching them and promote them to climber you have invested in that person. I think the real hard work is knowing what to tell the people who initially dish out the IIP cert (i.e. why you over gypo tree bodgers), maintaining it is a doddle. Kev
  14. Chip 'em. Had a couple of nests during spring this year with chicks in. Impossible to see the nest until the conifers were either half down or felled. They went through the chipper too. Once a nest (or its surroundings) has been disturbed the parents are highly unlikely to return to the nest. Although it is cruel to chip them I personally feel it is better than leaving them to starve to death. If however I see a nest before a job has started I will ask the customer to ring me back when they have seen the chicks fledge or just arrange to go back a month later to check myself.
  15. He is now confirmed dead, along with his 5 year old son and 2 other passengers. There seems to be an increasing number of chopper crashes, I wonder if it will be investigated???
  16. Halfords Professional range suprisingly enough. Most of my set up from my car tinkering is Halfords Pro. Excellent stuff, sensible prices and a no complaints replacement if anything is broken (ratchets slipping, screwdriver tips snapping opening paint tins etc etc) provided it is not totally evident stuff has been misused. Worth a look at least but if money is no object then snap-on can't be beaten Kev
  17. Another vote for Stihl purely due to the fact the local dealer is Stihl. Only ever used 1 husky, not sure on the model but it was small, old and fit only for the bin
  18. I'll third that - Always there when I am too busy or the job is too big for me and my experience
  19. Been rock climbing for 18 years now and got bored of the manufacturing job (although I am still there - money) and wanted to work outdoors. Worked a few days with a mate, bought a cheap saw, did felling ticket, started advertising and things have grown from there. I am still part time but I am sure if i pushed all the jobs I got offered I could fill full time hours. Kev
  20. I know where you are coming from. I started out with an old caravan chassis trailer and an MS230. Managed to make enough from this lot to buy a 20 year old 020T ex ebay, a harness and rope (in fact the first couple of jobs I did were using my old rock climbing gear). This again made a few quid and ebay then provided a 4" arboreater that I drove 450 miles to collect. This set up I stayed with for about 8 months until I made enough cash for a 6" chipper and a couple of new saws. Even now i am only running a non tipping 4x4 pickup, 3 saws and a 7 year old chipper. If you are willing to work harder and market yourself right then sometimes you don't need all the gear. I have shovelled 5 loads from the back of my van in one day before now to save £60 tipper hire charge. That money buys new gear. I will be buying a tipper this year and I would love to replace the 230 with a new 260 but I need to go work for it first. Kev
  21. heinz oats and apple cereal or blended banana with strawberrys or mango or those small yogurts
