I can’t think of any other jobs to price up for you where there there are so many variables. We’re not talking turfing or patios or decking now, but modelling your garden with interesting features, quirky areas and fascinating little corners. You want imagination, you want a certain “je ne say... kwar...choir……………. What you want is that bloke off the telly! One thing’s for certain, don’t expect to get the average builder along and ask him for ideas. He might come up with “get the grass cut” but that will be it. Either design it yourself, then spend many happy house having morning coffee in those places that sell plants and stuff on the side…….garden centres, that’s it. Sort out what you want and where, draw a plan, then get the landscapers in. Or, hang around on a street corner and wait until a thin bloke with a pony tail and no tattoos or earrings comes along. He will be a garden designer, (ex public school drop out, called Raif or Rupert, smokes roll ups, you know the type of thing), ask him!

No I think making up a list of rates that tradesmen should be charging is a joke, I might require a lot less, or in half a day I might be able to knock out two 50' trees in which case, with my 2 man crew, mewp and 18'' chipper I might need a whole lot more the £350 do they mention VAT [nope] My point is do you want ''the building sheriff'' dictating to you how much you charge?

Any ideas on how too clear it, mechanically of course? its a relatively tight site [in places] but no trees to dodge anyone got a tool for the job and how much do you charge per day? I could burn with little worry. I was thinking of clearing and piling high with a jcb. The sites in Essex, not far fro Colchester

Sounds to me like the tree might be livining in compacted soil, get a fork and breaker bar out and give it a good watering before going any further....

A tree planting course whatever next, an exercise in breathing.......... tell you what supply the trees and the site 20 mile radius of Ipswich, and I'll do a course for 5 for free, I'll even knock up an Arbor Aeration planting certificate for free, I'm serious.............

I haven't used myccor products for a very long time, total waste of time and money in my book [yes must update website] far better off using a bucket of soil from like for like healthy woodland tree, if at all in doubt about myccor but then without correct soil conditions will it develop? I doubt it!

I don't think there's much argument these days [well not as much] as to the existence of abiotic oil, its a case of how easy/costly is it to extract! saying that some reports say the oil fields in Saudi and various other places are replenishing instead of depleting The Abiotic Oil Formation Theory
