  1. changing Timberwolf blades including those stupid bolts , must rate as the most stupid thing of the last century! Has anyone dropped a nut or worse blade? I dropped a nut a few years ago, got it out with a magnet on a wire gizmo, god help anyone who dropps a blade, cuz they're going to be in for a lot of spanner work! This is by far the biggest design fault on the Timberwolf
  2. my storage is split into 2 areas the operating center and log/chip dump is on a farm , my soon to be kit storage container is a mile from the farm and on a small industrial area, both places are less than a mile from my door.. Your right Matt its time I get my trailers insured and £30 is bugger all
  3. it reads like i'm not getting that bad a deal
  4. I gave it a quick wash down before taking the pics lol, you've got some nice kit yourself now mate..
  5. page 3 birds?
  6. Would you fit patten coppies to a new Merc, no neither would I, genuine parts please every time for me! what others do is up to them.
  7. Without going into to much detail for the sake of security, where do you guys keep your larger equipment ie stump grinders, chippers, mini-skids, saws etc, what do you keep this kind of kit in, storage container, shed, industrial unit, barn or other? How much does your storge cost you per month? i'm looking at storing my kit [not vehicles obviously] in a 20' container, at a proper storage compound with with security cameras, electric gates and security fencing, it will cost me roughly £100 per month I'm also paying £60 a month to a local farmer for log and chip storage, I also use the farm as an operating center for my lorry, so in total i'm looking at £160 a month in total for all my equipment storage, what do you think too much or about right? I would love to use the farm as storage ie get my own container up there, but security just isn't good enough! Whilst we are on the subject who do you guys insure your kit with, i'll be honest my kit other than the tractor hasn't been insured for the last few years as the premium was just too high imo
  8. nice job as usual, shame we never got a pic of that huge beech we did in Ipswich the day my wife forgot to put salt and vinegar on our fish and chips!
  9. Deep root fert link, what the author fails to mention is water/fert mix injected a high pressure also, decompacts the soil http://www.realgreenlawns.com/austin_tx_texas/treedeeprootfertilization.htm I don't agree with the authors fert mix either, way too much nitrogen imo, but the link gives you the jist of things..
  10. radial trenching link http://treehealth.com/trenching.htm
  11. like he says
  12. the trenches look like spokes on a wheel Andy, they work outwards from the trunk
  13. Deep root fert decompacts all of the tree root zone and as it says on the tin ferts the trees at the same time, using specially formulated tree fertilsers, benefital bacteria and various benefital myccor fungi, and i'm in and out in no time which is reflected in the price. Radial trenching, only decompacts at the most 20% of the tree root zone [much more than that and the tree is likely to blow over, as an Air-spade the tool used to radial trench ''seriously'' loosens soil] no tree fert is added, and you WILL be left with one hell of a mess. Also when radial trenching, the tree roots must be kept wet using hydrogel or at the least a hose and hessian sacks [more mess] Radial tenching is usually sold by firms that haven't invested several thousands of £ss on a specialist deep root fert rig. I can offer radial trenching if a client wants it, deep root fert, or decompaction using a specialist bit of kit that blasts in a jet of compressed air. I see no worth in radial trenching, if a contractor does bring out the Air-spade at least do the job properly and vertical mulch..
  14. You'll only get Congalese Baka tribesmen for that kind of money, you know the blokes who climb huge trees using vines to collect honey... 5 Euros lol
  15. nice kit guys!
  16. I agree
  17. If I could harness the electric produced by her jaw I could supply the national grid
  18. I have a wife, she supplys all the heated air needed to heat our house..
  19. all depends on your tree officer or the bloke who makes the list i'm affraid, i'm on various councils lists , we only got on certain lists through extremely high quality workmanship, on other lists we compete with some right tossers ..
  20. i'd like to see Euro arb concentrate on me me me! and dole out plenty of free gifts....
  21. my Defender TD5 was far from sluggish, infact the engine and gear box were the only 2 things I liked about it
  22. I can't see how you ANYONE in the country can work at the above rates, your insurance and running costs are no different to the rest of the countrys, I know a few firms down your way and they charge a lot more than you'd think! not huge rates but comparable to the rest of the country.
  23. and another thing who is going to post the rates they charge on an open public forum:heeeelllllooooo: oh did I mention i'm charging £1200 for a three man gang..
  24. I wonder if a couple of lorry tyre would have been the order of the day? Andy I never saw the bit about timber flying up, and I see the logic behind that.
  25. no day is ever the same, going on my 20 years in the game, no firm can charge x amount day in day out, it just doesn't happen. I like most, if they admit the truth charge on a basis of how technicle the job is, who the hell is going to pay over £400 per day for hedge trimming, groundwork, small ornametal trims etc and another thing no working day ever starts and finnishes at the same time!
