  5. A few months back [before the credit crunch, ie my developer clients tightening there purse strings] I was intending on buying a Picus.. Having recently spoken to a few bods in the know they say the Picus can give very inaccurate readings, does anyone have any experience of this?
  6. did he give you the impression he doesn't like to sell his products to the UK market Mac?
  7. that will teach me to run my mouth, I just cant afford that truck Mac i'm just so fully streched with kit ie new tractor right now!
  8. do we get enough lightning/storms to warrent lightning protection in the UK? jeez tons of rain no storms! will there ever be a silver lining to these clouds lol
  9. spot on , the trouble is Ben Fuest doesn't sell his lightning kit:confused1: well thats the impresssion he gave me on the phone a few weeks ago, likes to install protection himself...
  10. Not many customers are willing to pay thats the only problem, lightning protection needs routine maitenance as well. Costs about a £1000 to instal on average and do the job properly..
  11. I know a fair bit about it, never done it though lol. Might add it to our list of services, you got a job lined up then Mac? Ain't no tickets or training available unless i'm in the dark..
  12. If they ever bring them into this country i'll be the first to buy a Landcruiser truck!

  15. If I had the money i'd have a new nissan cabstar with 21m platform, yep and i'd only do roadside trees, infact if we didn't have the credit cruch I'd have bought a 27m 7.5 ton platform by now
  16. Ding ding Round 1
  17. I'm waiting for the Japs to re-design the whole thing, forgot I think they have..
  18. congrats on your first job Cern
  19. might be a good idea to change that user name mate! welcome to the forum though
  20. Not really a veteran IMO, depending on the target area i'm going to stick my neck out and suggest the tree is topped! and I mean topped maybe even coronet/natural fracture pruned.. If you correctly pollard imo there is a high chance the tree won't push out a flush of epicormic, at least with topping you'll be keeping the vascular system moving and lightening the load at the same time, topping does have its place imo, then later down the road i'd consider pollarding..

did I mention warm lardy cakes, they don't look much , but oh boy do they taste nice, if I were a millionaire a few times over i'd have lardy cakes sent over twice a week from a little bakers from Liskeard
  22. Not trying to sound like a smart ass, but yes I knew the above, you said deficientcy I said not.. Overfeeding [strictly speaking fertiliser isn't food they are nutrients, photosynthesis makes food ie starches and suger, but i'll let you off that one lol ] I 've already ruled out fertiliser burn, highly unlikely as fert burn is usualy associated with chemical ferts, not organic as this would be. Good to have a water expert on the forum though, I have a question, when out in Oz a guy I spoke too sold septic tanks , he said the water run off was virtualy pure, you could even drink it he said, what do you recon? how pure is septic tank water run off ? I have been lots of times its very clean/pure
  23. I doubt its much more than waterlogging as Ed has already pointed out, and if its not, what harm is there in decompaction, its already been pointed out that the trees are sitting with there roots in water. I'd be inclined to try and re-route the sewege/septic tank run off , if it hasn't been moved already , shouldn't be much of a job
  24. Nutrient defficientcy trees next to a sewege outlet.. My guess is the sewege outlet is from septic tanks , no big deal and definatly no heavy metals, unless the residents are pouring mercury on there cornflakes or eating lead butties...
