I like it, very light, which is something I thought I wouldn't worry about but it does make a difference, flakes almost flat in the bag, looks like you have half as much rope, difficult to grip I have found in the wet, even with gloves but that could just be me.
  4. They would come under PUWER would they not? Thanks Judge.
  5. Like you I was taught to splice three strand at college, so the interest was installed from the start. My recent splices? I just followed the instructions from various rope manufactures websites, but I have never been good at learning from text and really, if you want to splice you need to learn from someone who has been doing it for a while, they know the tricks to make it a little easier. Mind you, I think Jamie taught himself, he seems to manage.
  6. Yup so we need around eight people, pay the deposit then I can go on the workshop.
  7. Nod from Treeworker is hoping to run a 16 strand splicing workshop in the future, contact him for details, the course requires a deposit, no deposit no course.

  18. Had an 88 on site but after that nasty Beech incident I went with the quicker 066, the fence was electrified as it was a sheep's field, kept forgetting about it and getting a nice belt. Tree went slightly early.
  19. Yeah, I think it would have gone without the weight removal but hey, it was a nice day for a climb.
  20. Fridays job, Ash tree, lightning strike some time back, highways wanted the large roadside limb off, the land owner decided to take down the tree. Used a pulley to swing the branches back into the field from roadside limb to lessen the weight, used a floating pulley for lowering rope retrieval. (Thanks Reg)
