  1. Thanks for putting it in plain English Peter I was using a Tenex loopie for the second pulley but as it was not the highest one it survived. What size Tenex do you use for your slings Peter?
  2. I think the splice pulled out breaking the whipping but I am no expert on these matters, yes I think that the sling should be withdrawn from service. It was my fault, should have had bigger lowering equipment really.
  3. I will have some more, much better quality pictures by Hari soon.
  4. Fell by Stu, right on the button. http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee56/highscale/?action=view&current=MOV00154.flv
  5. No, some good farm machinery on hand.
  6. Two shots of decay detected by Picus, metre from bracket, above and below. Clear up, still a little work to do.
  7. Toms picture.
  8. Yup, sure was!
  9. A few more pics and a tiny vid. Fell by Stu.
  10. Negative.
  11. Hey Jason, Sea gulls, I will send you all the pics, I have loads, thanks for the offer.
  12. Could be:001_smile:
  13. It wasn't like that today.
  14. Beech, Pictures by Hari, groundwork by Stu, Hari, Tom and John.
  15. Not yet.
  16. Good news!
  17. Not my rope Peter not that that is an excuse but it is only the second lowering rope I have ever broken, the first being made of Manila snapped lowering a large chunk of Euc in Oz.
  18. Well if I didn't kill the rope yesterday I made sure of it today, big heavy Beech, not letting the load run equals rope kaput. Check out the whipping on the sling.
  19. Okay so it's not a major problem but after just two days my attachment for my braces has come out of my Stretch airs. Edit: I have just noticed the other side has nearly broken also. Really not good enough for 180 quid really. Thank the lord Pfanner don't make climbing ropes.
  20. Excellent points from both Kev and Reg.
  21. Odd, I agree with you.
  22. Was using a 16mm Marlow braid rope today, it was nice, new and soft and flexible, after I had finished using it, (heavy loads but minimal shock loading) It had turned a little stiff, like wire. Is this normal or have I killed a brand new rope, (not mine) I have used Marlow braid before and it seems to be able to take hard work pretty well. Yes I know It's three strand with a braided cover.
  23. I love the Cure but it would be nice if Robert Smith changed his style, he looks the same but a lot fatter.
