  1. Its sums up the whole state of affairs in this country very eloquently, and from a perspective I hadnt seen it from.
  2. I was talking to an old boy in the village the other day, and he asked how I was getting on with quitting. I told him it was going well. He packed up years ago, luckily, as he just had a heart problem sorted. I asked him how his widower neighbur was doing as I had seen him lately, "hadn't you heard?, he went to hospital for a dead leg, and they had to amputate!" He never could give up the smokes, and necrosis set into his leg. Sad.
  3. When my quad was stolen I got full replacement value of the machine (like for like), max payout possible for personal effects, full allowance for fixed added extras ie winch and boxes. The girl in the local office was very helpful, and in her words "why should you be worse off because of the thieves?"
  4. I dont need to!
  5. Ah, its because we are the posh end of the county. The nearest we get to a riot is when the WI banned Ethel's Victoria Sandwich because it had the wrong flavour jam in it
  6. 3 weeks and one day today. Still feeling good, still feeling daily improvements. Sex life is better too, more staying power more energy! Thats a good enough reason to stop even if you dont care about the other gains. Money saved to date, 165 quid!
  7. Filled up today ok, no ban on filling bottles in Suffolk, so long as you have a rag bung to stop it spilling.
  8. Not being funny or anything, but the law already only allows one 20l Jerry or 2x 5l fuel cans to be filled at any one time. I've been pulled up several times for trying to go over quota.
  9. Compost them?
  10. Our "ex-mil" MJ is insured as Agri with the NFU. At one time, after the war, many farmers used various ex-mil gear to convert to farm/forestry work, it really is nothing new.
  11. It was said on the radio by a senior police officer that the police are wary of physical contact as they would be more likely to be accused of excessive force than the looters, and more likely to lose their jobs. Damned if they do, damned if they dont!
  12. Oh and anyone wearing a hood, a mask, balaclava, anything to disguise them should be removed instantly from the streets, with reasonable and appropriate force of course. It should be assumed that because they dont wish to be identified then they are involved in a criminal act.
  13. Did you see that poor soul on the news, beaten and dazed, then robbed on camera. Makes you really want to do something. I really hope the police the CPS, the courts all deal with this with the full extent of their powers. Not enough room in prison, tough, cram them in there as tight as necessary to clear the streets. Disenfranchised? not my description. Sympathy? why? I bet these thugs are laughing at all the hand-wringers making excuses for their behaviour. This is going to cost us all dear. Socially and economically. The bill for the police, the insurance premium hikes, and respect lost from other countries. We have become a laughing stock, a sick joke, we need a strong leadership from our government, a strong signal sent out from our law enforcement agencies, and strong local leadership from community groups, and above all parents.
  14. I'll just add that there are many different opinions held by the membership here, please respect each others point of view, and the right to hold an opinion. This is an emotive topic.
  15. Bring in a curfew, close the areas down, troops on the streets to enforce the laws of the land with a ring of steel. Shouting from a loud hailer on a helicopter will hardly calm things down IMO. These thugs need a sharp lesson in respect.
  16. Obviously his talents dont stop at out-climbing you, he can also out-wit you as well
  17. Oh yes so I see. They (FCA) forgot my listing last year, and I forgot to check it was in this year, and it is, so thanks for reminding me to check it out
  18. yeah your rubbish and he's better than you, you just have to accept that!
  19. The FCA membership list was online last year when I checked, tbh I havent looked this year.
  20. had a heavy day today felling and stacking on 1st thin work, solid slog all day, and I was surprised how much more stamina I had. Giving up really does make a difference!!
  21. Nice one toprotter. Been nearly 3 weeks for me now. I'm starting to have more energy now, the gains from not smoking have actually surprised me tbh. Dont really feel the urges to smoke at all now, even when I see groups stood outside pubs etc.
  22. You are the boss, they are the staff. You make the rules they follow them. Eg, Honda trainee technicians have to wear overalls in the workshop, and a smart shirt and tie and black trousers beneath. I thought it was a wee bit ott when I heard it, but they want the trainees to have a professional smart approach and attitude to every thing they do under the Honda banner. Staff appearance is important, uniform clothing makes you readily identifiable on site, distinguishes you from other site workers, and looks like you the boss take a pride in everything.
  23. What a crappy load of luck, thanks for having the decency to clarify your situation for those it applies to, many wouldnt bother
  24. I always use roller guides, my close range vision isnt so good and until I accept my age and get some vari-focals roller guides it will be!
