  1. Posh git- trust me it will be Asda:001_tongue: Is there anything particular kit/technique wise that people want us to cover or bring with us?
  2. The cutting was ok, but me thinks i'd have positioned the basket elsewhere. Providing the rigging line is substantial enough, shock loading is less of an issue when your not tied in
  3. I will put some directions up later this week. Not bad from manchester a it is only 5/10 mins form the M62
  4. Bump. A week away now
  5. A wide bearth because you forgot to get her anything !
  6. my friends - those on here and those not are my fiercest critics and i'm not famous for holding back with them either. So does your inference of favoritism allow you to evade the other questions asked of you?
  7. Mani- discussion requires an understanding of reason and opinion. Sorry but it's one of those irritating truths. With a closed mindset the climber would be topping out with a piece of manilla using a half hitch. Weilding a cross cut and an axe to boot. All inputs are valid for me- I take away what I need and learn as a result. p.s. I'm twice as vacant as that and three times more ignorant.
  8. Last time I was in Essex the blokes were tame compared to the women- the blokes were the ones that looked hunted:scared1:
  9. If your as good as you are arrogant I stand in awe.....................................................
  10. Ah ok- next to the "white trainers and hoodies about sign" lol
  11. Good call- can't be half arsed trees with a butt like that!
  12. All those blokes huddling together to evade the wild animals then
  13. You miss the point- there is seldom right and wrong. However the judgement on appearance shows a narrow minded approach which is equally if not more dangerous. For the record i would have used a felling cut as it was a vertical stem.
  14. "do you take a cheque" and "even if I pay cash can i get a reciept" are always answered with the answer YES
  15. Never judge a book by it's cover- some half-baked ameteurs like myself might just have cut a tree down before. It's amazing what the inept can achieve:001_tongue:
  16. looked amazing fun, although some of those picks did look a bit twitchy. Me want a go
  17. No climber enjoys limb-walking on wet slimey trees. Your confidence will increase massivley over quite a short period of time- flying hours are what's needed. Don't worry and do your best, you might just suprise yourself!!!!!!
  18. I was refering to the sling to attach a block to the tree- sorry
  19. So if i'm I'm using a typical 16mm double braid with a SWL of 650kg (10 to 1 FOS). What would you use as a pulley and spit tail and in what cofiguration?
  20. amazing how TV can change the world aint it:001_tongue:
  21. Sorta good to watch- edit made it a little patronising for the ladies though. Note to mr narrator - i noticed the were not blokes after the first 3 seconds. I never had an issue with gender identification after that point!
  22. Some people appear to be uncommonly sensible- the rest of them sheep!
  23. I prefer the 440 and the 460 ( i own both)- better power to weight. To the point i've just bought a 2nd 440- time to get the drill out and do some more exhaust porting The anti-vibration systems on the latest generation of husky and stihl saws are amazing, however the drive to reduce emissions seems to have reduced the torque as the engines are restricted heavily
  24. mmmmmmmmm codine and red wine. Best hangover cure known to man
  25. I've been discussing the building of rigging systems quite a bit recently. In a typical system of a pulley, split tail, porta-wrap, sling attaching it to the stem and rope, what considerations do you give to the ratings of each individual part, and what should be the "weak link" in the system?
