  1. never done a ropeguide but have done a positioner twice and the second time was a pain in the ass just as you described. Took a tap with a hammer and small screwdriver to free it up if memory recalls
  2. im a big fan of pfanner clothing and quite tempted by this. I have the regular arborist jacket and love it. Lot of money to outlay but if its truly waterproof and lasts then its worth it. I have the cut and climb and rate it highly but do prefer climbing clothing to be as less bulky as possible, which the pfanner seems to accomplish
  3. Cheers Dan. I drive past this tree several times a week, nice to see it has responded and is throwing out plenty of new shoots. One stem is slightly questionable, will see what happens next year.
  4. well yep, won't be much use without the fungi images
  5. Welcome Hylea Don't forget the arbtalk fungi app. Doesn't go into detail but is a handy identification tool when in the field Smart Phone Apps for Arborists - Brought to you by Arbtalk
  6. Good to hear from you, hope you're keeping busy
  7. Try googling images for pear rust or pear leaf gall. Does it look similar?
  8. Might have known you'd be the first to respond
  9. Interesting... From within the Amazon rain forest, a group of researchers from Yale University’s Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry have discovered a species of fungus that is able to naturally break down and consume polyurethane. As the plastic addiction of our convenience driven society weighs in at roughly 251 million tons of discarded plastics a year, this discovery poses ground breaking opportunities [Tome] | Research Team Finds Plastic-Eating Mushroom Species In... - TIMEWHEEL
  10. Have you tried sharpening them?
  11. i'm happy with that! Its gone up a fair bit since I last looked actually. Not sure exactly how accurate those stats are though.
  12. Fear is the friend of exceptional people as they say
  13. you mean x rings? I reckon they would pop out with a fishermans
  14. Well done Rich. I figured someone would have tried it.
  15. My diy haas is about 6 years old...its kicking around somewhere im sure
  16. on a zigzag still Reg. Yeah I can see the benefit for big prunes for sure.
  17. thinking about it...even if I did I wouldn't try this idea though. Just popped in my head so thought I would start a thread.
  18. if this is just a link to the kiwi spikescender then no thats not what i mean. I mean a top mounted one in conjunction with the KK spikescender
  19. yes so you can have one on each foot and alternate your legs as you ascend, just like the haas
  20. This has probably already been discussed, I don't recall....but I was thinking last night if it would be feasible to mount a second ascender at the top of the shank of your spike rather than using a haas for a second ascender. Anyone tried this?
  21. smooth work as always Reg, even tempts me into buying a rope wrench
