  4. something you may wish to try yourself. when you take a break from blowing smoke up your own arse.
  5. decent dog helps.,,, relax, it's just a beef shin bone with an old trainer on the end.
  6. Had a few night visitors show up at night on the trail cams, all togged up like feckin' commandos, I set a dozen alarm mines around the place, [non lethal but feckin' loud enough to wake the dead] one of them set one off a few nights later, the rest panicked and ran off in all directions,,, setting off 3 more. never saw them again. found a tool bag nearby the next day, 2 battery grinders, bolt croppers, prybars and enough batteries to last for days. I don't rate containers as they are easy to just cut through the side or roof.
  7. Head shots have always been a contentious subject, I prefer to place the shot as instructed by dsc, If I cant get that safely, I walk away, there's always another day,, for myself and the quarry. I'm not an advocate of long range shots at deer either, it's called "stalking" for a reason. paper or hardox is another matter. nothing suffers if you miss, while dialing in.
  8. Thanks for that, I have a few of those, but my old lorry has unfortunately long gone. that's a Austin k2 I believe, I had a Bedford J type 4x4 , should have kept it really, regret it now. there's some real beauties there.
  9. I bought the varcol 150 @£34, around the time kram spoke of it, I'v used it so far in 9 different saws, of all ages and brands and it's performed flawlessly in all of them.
  10. I'm not sure if relevant today, but back when I was a young'n insurance costs were affected by the popularity of insurance claims, for instance mini,s were popular among young drivers , but the crash rate was high because of inexperienced drivers, the premiums reflected this, certain 4x4,s are stolen to order and gain places an increase on insurance, it might pay to approach a friendly broker and inquire as to what might be a good choice. the next year all being well and with a years experience under his belt, the choices would broaden.
  11. "meanwhile fungi grows at the base of a tree"
  12. I quite like one of these for the collection.
  13. Another clown joins the ever growing circus. A former hypnotherapist who claimed that women could increase their bra sizes with their minds has been elected as the new leader of the Green Party.
  14. couple of rare ones on ebay at present, Dolmar KMS4 Rotary. 1k starting bid, [got that already] and Echo CS 610EVL £1500 start, [originally listed at £2500, and recently reduced] never found an echo twin that ran, coils usually failed.
  15. I too have some experience of deer, Get a chest shot wrong by 2" and you will not be tracking it far, 50 yds or so, nothing an average dog couldn't find in heavy cover in under a minute. Get a Head shot wrong by 2" and the results are horrific. You will never track it and live in the knowledge it took a week to die. Why be clever? Just not worth it.
  16. partied with these guys,, feckin' awesome night.
  17. I have one of those, they work fine for most tires, smaller wheelbarrow tires cant be done as they don't have the hole in the center, and some rims have an internal lip on the rim to stop the tire coming off at very low pressures, these may be a problem with the bead breaker part of the machine, I reinforced mine and it worked fine after the mod. make sure you bolt it to a concrete floor securely, you will see them mounted on pallets, or sleepers, but you'll just end up wrestling the thing around the workshop, securely fixed to the floor and you can get the best from it.
