  1. Not sure, it's a personal thing with me, I don't have to store petrol but I do have to have a spare pair of batteries (2×4ah & 2×3) which gives enough power to more than fill my car with the back seats down. If I'm cutting at home I charge as I go. I don't like the fact that there is no noise from it unlike an idling conventional saw so I put the brake on if I set it down or have to reach across the blade and when transporting or moving around I remove a battery, probably unnecessary but that's what I do. If I was just cutting at home I would have a mains powered saw.
  2. Thanks, that could be very handy, might have a trip out later
  3. Bought a bison 800mm and found that from the start it isn't digging in as I expected. I'm using it to pick up rounds to split with an axe and then to move the split wood around and save my back. It goes into alder either bark side or cut face but I'm having difficulty getting it into cherry and it just bounces off Plum! Should I try to file more of a cutting edge into the inside of the curve to help it cut into the wood better? Many thanks for relevant, non pi$$ take, replies
  4. You obviously know Darren then
  5. Your taking a lot for granted, how do you know anyone's nationality, am I English? Scottish? Welsh? Nigerian? Pretty much all the advice I have had has been good. If you want a good wood chopper get this Husky bundle it should be just what you need https://www.sam-turner.co.uk/products/husqvarna-toy-chainsaw-play-kit?variant=31997906387083&fo_c=606&fo_k=73dc70813d214c496355e96afb14b666&fo_s=gplauk&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pmax_smart_toys&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA5eC9BhAuEiwA3CKwQpirp2XO0pAKBpo8PSf9G52HF2BIliUXTlvjdfQKS6QOZaExNpxnIRoCVxEQAvD_BwE
  6. Yep, nothing there.
  7. Well you're the one who is wandering around in his Y fronts with his chopper in his hands . Perhaps we could start again at the beginning? Hi I live (general area) I have xyz area of abc timber to fell and process, I have/don't have any qualifications ...yada yada. Then people better qualified than me would be in a better place to answer your questions, too many people turn up on forums and ask the usual "What's the best car/BBQ/fishing rod/router/sewing machine...." ask a silly question get a silly answer. Either that or your a troll or banned ex member or both.
  8. I agree but l would think that the majority of people in the uk prefer bland beef or probably a flabby bit of chicken.
  9. Its been nice knowing you
  10. Just me but I would also add in safety gear as well, I see too many people running around with little or no safety gear as well as people wandering into the working area as if they are iron/superman. Chills my bones.
  11. I have a small pile like that but I have a couple of chainsaws, so I just leave them until I have some limbs to cut to length at home and do it all together and that's this mornings job. If you don't cut a lot and also don't want to annoy your neighbours I thoroughly recommend an electric chainsaw.
  12. So what does another region have to do with the USA and in particular a president who wants to resort-ize it? Black Sea anyone? No? Keep your eyes on the prize, Greenland?
  13. With thorn? Not seen that before but hey!
  14. I'm thinking blackthorn and really hoping that it is but I have seen Damson with thorn on it, however not as much as this had. fortunately its 6-9" diameter below it is alder
  15. Great, I know where it is as I left a big X mark on the ground.
  16. I will remember that if I get some, again thanks
  17. Thanks, I thought it was due to the bark and small branches but I have never cut/split any.
  18. I was out for a walk locally and a bit of community woodland had been trimmed back that day and I noticed a small log hadn't been lifted and what made it so noticeable was the colour of the cut end. I've not seen this before any ideas? 48 hrs later and the orange colour is starting to colour the split face too. Forgot to add, very tight grain that doesn't want to split straight or cleanly
  19. We have an older house so it was designed for airflow, however we also have DG and its a bungalow. We keep the lounge door open and a fan blows air into the hall to warm the rest of the house and keep us cooler as it can get up to 24'c easily with the door closed, 19-21 when open. Using the fan means we have a draft but its hardly noticeable. Our stove is 5kw and draws fine even when we are in the middle of storms no blow back. If our house was newer and therefore better sealed then we would have gone for external air but its not so we allow the airflow to keep the inside dry and mostly condensation free.

    Malcolm

Two car driveway adjacent to road, might be a bit tight for articulated lorries but fine for smaller vehicles. We're retired but still active so can usually be about during the day. If phoning please contact by text first as we don't answer unknown numbers. 5 cu is probably the maximum we could take in one delivery and happy to take smaller amounts. No willow thanks.
  21. Some nice big piles of wood! I just pick away at bits and pieces, so far we've had small amounts of hawthorn, bird cherry, cherry, Leylandii, and ash, but there's a nice flattened poplar close by that needs my attention along with a limb from an Ash in the local park and that should do us for next winter. Its been surprising how quickly I can fill my wood shed with just a few limbs etc left here and there, I believe the term is wood goblin?
  22. Oh dear how naughty, the way you were pontificating on a recent thread one would think you were whiter than white 🤔
  23. Yeah, hence my post earlier... "A fools errand but hey-ho!" So I kinda knew what was building. If insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting the same results then I am insane, however you said that you are "confident in my own knowledge" but have been proven wrong so the only other possibility is narcissism or some sort of liar, but I am sure that won't bother you in the slightest.
  24. I'll refer m'learned colleague to the statement earlier "but think we both know you fitted it." And then to the documentation that refutes the assertion and ask again for an apology for the incorrect statement or to confirm that he is indeed narcissistic. Your move.
  25. That's the point in question, and I proved you wrong it isn't about ⬇️ Absolutely, correct just like the MOT is only valid until you drive the car away from the garage. Re underfloor. There are plenty of vents around for there to be airflow aplenty and yes they could get blocked either accidentally or on purpose but that's whataboutary or deadcatting. A simple heat engine like my stove is not going to work as supposed by the manufacturer and the independent tester as the variables are many and the stop on the primary air, in my opinion, is a blunt instrument at best, the hole drilled for the screw has a couple of mm play, the bend in the metal is possibly a couple of mm away from the natural curve of the plate which begs the question of whether it was a Friday when the person bent it and it certainly isn't a right angle. So combining those little things with the weather, the heat, length and construction/type of flue, the type of wood, the temperature of the wood, the heat of the stove etc etc I'm going to use the stove without the stop in place and use the look of the flame and the temperature of the flue (very sketchy but a reasonable way to identify the flue temperature) and how warm the room is as I am then in control of the variable factors which a metal box cannot do. I worked in all male workplaces so I have a certain amount of thick skin and I think you missed the sarcasm a little. Get used to the word narcissist, as you can't back down and you keep saying you don't care what I do but you still want to reply, your first reply was an absolute give away, next time just ask for clarification rather than think the worst of someone or tell them that they are butchering a stove by just removing a stop. I notice you didn't bother doing the same, unless I missed it, to spud when he told of how he adapted his? Perhaps you thought that you could try and bully the noob, not happening my friend.
