Grapple Or Beak for Front end Loader

I need to get either a grapple or beak for moving stacked wood around wood yard. Which is the better tool for the job, especially when wood is so slippery. I like the look of the"Dalen"timber clawbut a bit pricey, but so are grapples. Until now been using plain pallet tines but useless now wood is so slippery. MF820Front end loader on MF390 4wd.

That looks good johny, a few places I chip biomass for use loaders to fetch timber too me and most use muck grabs which are a PITA as timber gets stuck on the tines, will save that pick and show them as much better and I guess a lot cheaper than a full on log grab from say hawkfork or the orange 1 from Riko.

What sort of price was it?

These ALO log beaks are good. Downside if you move long big timber around a lot the welds on all the ram pins crack. Although that was through many years abuse and in some cases misuse.:blushing:

Would two beaks stop this problem,or would that be over kill? The Riko one looks just what I am looking for ,but wondered if two beaks would be better to stop wood slidding out the ends, better than one if you know what I mean, bit more of a grab action. I know twice as expensive, but wood sliding of the stack gets me bugged very quickly:cursing:

I dont know what make our grab is but its brilliant. We added the paddle`s to the arms and shoved some extra forks on and its really universal. Its happy picking up massive sticks as well as brash.

That looks a super job. Proves it does not have to cost thousands to achieve the same result as hundreds of pounds, especially as there is not much money made out of supplying firewood.
