Thinking of a zigzag

What about this rope , SAMSON VELOCITY "HOT" 11MM CLIMBING ROPE

 

 

I use this for both srt and with a zigzag drt

 

Seems good with the zz but also just picked up a Marlow 11.8 to use with it.

It's 11.3 but seems to pull up fine on the zz

Also Yale Poison Hi Vee, or Poison Ivy. Apparently not the same stuff as in the states, but my one from Honey Bros is much better in the ZZ than 13mm XTC plus. Poison Hi Vee was marketed as two ropes in one - supposed to be ok for SRT too, it's all I have when I try out SRT, maybe too bouncy for the purists. Will buy some Cougar next - a short rope, fed up with 45m and 60m in small trees

Please try that marlow venom Silky 😁. I'm curious to know if it actually starts self tending at 6ft

I've got the venom on a ZZ. I didn't like it at first when it was new.

Now it's worn a bit Its a lot better.

Not sure about 6ft self tending though! Having said that It does tend sooner than other ropes I've had. E.g. limelite and aeris (which is technically 0.5mm too thin for a ZZ.

I bought it because it was developed especially for mechanical devices.

I found it quite bouncy at first and really hard to grip when wet. Now it's worn a bit it is much better in the hand and it does tend really well.

Without derailing the thread too much - Marlow ropes are poooooooooooooooooooo! And unspliceable no matter what anyone says!

 

 

Yup!

 

I thought I'd managed to splice my Marlow dropping line, until I was able to pull it apart by hand with ease!
