I got to use one of these little grinders today for the first time. Small grinders as we all know, do the job but can be a lot of hard graft. This machine with its turntable feature made grinding pretty effortless. In addition to that, the breaking system is one of the best I have come across on a small grinder...at least at this point. Will be interesting to see how it holds up over time. Anyone else using one of these?

FSI Stump Grinders - Spectrum Plant

Great machine BUT I am very wary over the operation of the dead man handle has after some use that machine starts creeping when on idle has with the Rayco the Dead man handle is exactly that it turn the machine off .

Haven't used one but have a predator 360. The 360 is a great machine but some cheap components let it down like throttle cable and control lever, broke in the first month, five quid identical replacement on ebay. FSI looks a lot better in this regard, solid feeling controls

I've done 100's of stumps with a 13hp machine, possibly 1000's.

IMO, it no big deal, its hard work, but most tree work is, sure bigger machines are great when there is good access, but when there isn't you make do.

I think there's a place for a small machine in everyone's arsenal. Did this stump today with this grinder as my rg20 grinder wouldn't have fitted! I do think these fsi machines are far too pricey for what they are though

Little Rock machinery one. £1500 brand new. Was going to sell it when bought a bigger machine last month but had two jobs like this since on raised flower beds where nothing bigger would do the job

You can't really say that.

Have a look at my reduced width RG20 here which will get through a 28" gap and is a seriously capable machine!

Stump grinders need some weight behind them as well as power, or else Newton's third law will ensure that you get the crap knocked out of you!
