There are calculations and can be found by googling. Personally I would use a 3 stage ram but be careful, as I understand it it is now illegal to make or modify a trailer without having it all done professionally and certified I believe

Not so, the DIY build or modification is still alive and well, there is no requirement to have a "professional".

 

Trailers have always had to conform to the construction and use regulations but some aspects of mods and new builds now come under Single Vehicle approval (SVA) where they don't have type approval.

im wanting to convert my trailer to a tipper however I've no idea how you work out where to mount the ram is there some maths as to where to put it also what is the best type of ram to use and what sort of size stroke do you think i will need thanks mitch
