Qne with a 12 and one with a 14, use the 12" more as it just feels better and easier to handle in the tree, 14" is better for take downs though.

12, easier to use one handed IMO, i know your not suspose to use it one handed unless you have to, but we all one hand abit more than we should im sure, i find it more balanced and controlable, there for safer IMO.

Interesting result and replies, thanks all :thumbup1:

Myself I use a 14" which is probably because the first 020 I bought had one on and I havent tried any others:blushing:

I usually just go straight from the 020 to a 046 so maybe the slightly bigger bar is better for me on that front.

Plus, now this is just my guess that with a bigger bar there should be less chance of kickback, but probably more uncontrollable kickback when you get it.

Think I will buy a 12" when I next need a bar and give it a blast, that and put a 7 tooth sprocket on :thumbup1:

12" for me, if you need a bigger bar ,you need a bigger saw :sneaky2:,200t are the worst saw in the world when it comes to chogging down

Il 2nd that, as soon as it comes to chogging down i use the ms200 backhandle on small stuff, then a makita, usually the 7901 or whatever its called :001_smile:

Ahhh just noticed someone uses a 16" er, care to say why?

Does it cut well?

We have a 16 we put on the backhandle 020 sometimes for chogging down, it has to be very sharp, i dont like using it really, cuts abit slow. My boss normally uses it where as i switch to a bigger saw :001_smile:

But on a top handle 020 i imagine it would be very unbalanced an awkward.
