You tree climbers are such big girls :lYou want to be a woodman with bramble dogrose and thorn everywhere ha ha ha i bet i get some stick now:crying:

Bloody oath! Don't forget Honeysuckle! How can a plant that looks so benign be so insidious? Bramble, Dog rose, Field rose, blackthorn etc. can all be a pain, but Honeysuckle seems to have a mind of its own. The number of times I've gone to move off with the saw, only to find that somehow the bleddy stuff has wrapped itself around me legs, causing a stumble or even to fall flat on me face! Its like the Triffid of the woods.:confused1::sneaky2:

We've all had 'em! I was asked to take the top out of a Birch with a huge ornamental rose up it - she was absoulutely insistant that the rose was unharmed. UNHARMED! The bloody thing tore holes in my arms, face arse and trousers. - Worst bit - she called me back 6 weeks later - decided she'd like the whole tree out and she's grow another rose! Hey ho - least the sun's back.

One of the first jobs I did when I worked in Brisbane. Was to completely remove a climbing cactus from a huge, spreading Jacaranda with 2 dutch lads.

We used handsaws and billhooks to cut it off the limbs and branches.

When it was on the ground we cut it up into pieces small enough to be put into old gravel bags. Then carried/dragge these up the sloping rear garden to the truck on the drive at the front of the house.

It took us 3 days and we removed 7 tonnes in all. Afterwards the job became known as 'The Cactus Factory'!

Went to price this job a couple of week ago, reduce five 18ft conifer by half, notice a dog rose stem at one end but didn't look much.

Told the guy £175, he sucked through his teeth and said "£150??"

I ummed and R'ed and said it might be a bit awkward with the dog rose but we should be able to do it for that..

Started the job this morning and as soon as I cut the first bit of conifer exposed a mass of dog rose inside the conifers. I tried and struggle for half an hour getting ripped to bits and all I could think while I was cussing is this bloke chipping me.

So I went and knocked on his door and told him the original quote stands, if not get someone else in. I carried on with the job less stressed because I knew then if it took longer than I quoted it was my problem and I was getting ripped to pieces on my price not someone elses :001_smile:

I can honestly say this was the worst job I have done for a while, as small as it was

It would be a cold day in hell before I took on a job like that, lifes too short imo......

is there a queue, what other stickers do you have??

"Who's been a good boy"

"I helped Teacher today"

"I only had two cups of tea today"

"I've been a brave boy"

"I had a dump in the woods today"

Just for the record, I got a "I've been a brave boy today" certificate off two nurses when I went with suspected appendisitis and had a digital examination up the rectum :001_smile:

They thought it was hilarious :001_rolleyes:
