And if you're a small firm £17k for a new machine is a bit out of reach so you become good with spanners pretty quickly!

Cheers for the input guys. A chipper of this size will be just fine for me, obviously larger and diesel would be better but I really don't mind taking a few more logs as I have a wood burner so can always use them and also, a lot of my clients want to keep the logs. My main concern was age and parts availability. If I got the entec I would be spending good money, probably on something that has been reconned and what brought up my question was the fact that one has just popped up on earborist. I'm not sure on price but that one seems a little expensive at 4750

It's ridiculous the money you spend to do this job, was in a bar recently and the bartender says to me all he needs for his job is a bottle opener and a till key. I'm stood there thinking I've got over £10k (current value) of stuff all needed to do mine!

I'd love to get a new or larger second hand machine on finance but we are weeks away from buying our first house so that's not really an option till we are settled in etc

They come up quite often on eBay. If you can wait a while, you might find a good one on there for around £2500. The rear end of the ch25 is the same as the older 150. So parts should be available.
