I have heard it said that you would get away with being overweight if less than 10% over the 750kg trailer weights. No idea if this has any validation though.

Well any overload is an offence. Fines run about a pound per kilo IIRC and it will probably get you a prohibition notice.

 

An offence with a sub 750 (un braked) trailer is likely to be considered serious because the combination relies entirely on the braking capacity of the towing vehicle.

If you get stopped with say the traffic police and the trailer is clearly over weight they will do you and more than likely give you a prohibition notice. If it is just over the chances are they'll let you off with it. But with it being VOSA, the will try and do you for what ever they can. Best staying within the law, getting a trailer license and towing an appropriate trailer

From what I can make out the trailer/machine come in at 800kg as supplied by the makers :thumbdown: Be good if some helium would solve the problem. Could look at ways to strip 50kg from the machine but not easy.
