Heres an idea...

Do what i did.

Google search inventions from the middle east in the last 100 years.

A long list will appear.

Read the list..

Absorb the information.

Adapt your opinion inlight of the new information you've taken on...

Breath...

It's just a fact that few inventions come from the Middle East.... The fact that you can't state a single world class invention from the Middle East from the last century proves it. Don't get defensive about it, just admit the truth.

When people (or societies) lie to themselves they make bad decisions....

Matelot has a valid point to make.

Yes, back in the European Dark ages, Meadevial period etc, there was an intellectual flowering under Islam in the Arab world.

And "our" Crusauders were absolute barbarcic philistines compared to the then Muslim states

But not in the last couple of hundred years, has the Muslim/Arab world contributed much to knowledge or technological advancement.

On the other hand, the other Semetic people, the various Jewish populations have excelled in Noble Prize winning and such acedaemic stuff

Why?

I cannot offer an answer.

But it is a bald bare-assed fact, however unpalatable to some.

It's cos the ideology of Islam is so damn suppressive of freedom of thought that those who do have inspiration can't cultivate it out of fear of it being seen as against God. They are basically still back where Christianity was 500+ years ago.

Wow, amazing in that ENTIRE list not 1 of those can be incontrovertibly proven.

Let's get real here.... We're not talking about what's written in some scroll somewhere by someone, some-when. We're talking about tangible inventions that we know who invented them, we know the name, the location etcetera, for an absolute fact.

In the years 800 to 1100 the intellectual capital of the world was Baghdad. The West were complete morons in comparison.

The Islamic world went to pot when an influential philosopher convinced the majority of the population that Mathmatics were the work of the Devil and that seeking scientific knowledge was an affront to God. There's nothing like death threats to make you pack away your test tubes.

Ideas are powerful and the Islamic world has not recovered since.

We were lucky in the West. We took the ideas from the Middle East and ran with them, dragging a very reluctant Christianity along with us.

If the Islamic world had continued to study nature rather than supernature they would be leagues ahead of us by now and we would be asking why all the best inventions are coming out of the Middle East.

Entirely beside the point. I'm not making that argument at all!

I'm talking about world wide society altering inventions that can be irrefutably proven. And not coffee!
