You are aware that all these incidents happened in a country where guns are easily available, where gun crime off the charts, mass shootings are a weekly occurrence, and none of us live there?

If no one had a gun then there would be no one shot

If a tiny portion of people had a gun then there would be a tiny portion of murderers with guns.

If we all had guns then the fights outside the pub on a Friday night would turn out to be gun fights.

Similarly, if all guns had a magazine of say, 25 rounds then the murderers would be able to shoot 25 people before they have to stop, pause, reload and give time for all to escape

If all guns only had 2 rounds loaded, then every 2 shots, 12 1/2 times as many pauses would be needed. Cannot see the problem with this since the hunters are highly skilled, only need 1 shot not 25 to kill their target

If all gun owners had 2 guns.. with 2 shots each.. then the most they could shoot is 4 rounds before reloading.

The issue in Australia isn't illegal guns, the father was authorised to have a gun, able to fire off hundreds of shots in quick succession. The big issue here is the type of guns he was allowed to own and use.

That is a jumble.

Nobody have guns - You first, particularly the state.

Wild west - It wasn't here a hundred years ago and it's not in any number of countries that allow carry now (CZ and LT spring to mind)

Mags - You need more for certain things (cubs for example). Criminals would ignore it and derestrict them anyway

Gun type - Guns don't kill people, rappers do.

Also on gun type, has anyone ever found the video clip of Mike Yardley with a side by side (2 shots) racing a firearms copper with a big tube semi (probably 8 or 10 shots)? Obviously the copper rattles the first ten off in a second or two but couldn't stuff the tube fast enough. Yardley beat him over a minute.

It’s good to have a reasoned argument/debate Alex.

I agree with a lot of the points you make, especially in certain situations.

On balance though, I think our country is a safer place if we don’t all carry guns.

You decide for you. I'll decide for me.

The big feckin' issue is not which type of gun the general law abiding citizen has or how many, or even which country they reside in,,,

the problem is criminals, and religious feckin' indoctrinated nutjobs who think killing and maiming those of any other religion will get them to some feckin' imaginary place were there's dozens of  9 year old for them to emulate their feckin' hero.

it's in the room and it's a feckin' big elephant,,, but everyone pretends they ain't feckin' seeing it.

None of you tyrants can bring me down anyway. I’m still riding the high I got from freeing off a twenty-year-old hydraulic line in a twat of a place on the steering rack earlier.

Three extensions. A moment of brilliance. I’ll sign autographs in due course.

If we could all carry guns and I'm assuming its full out loaded, cocked and safety off type of thing then no one is going to rob you with a screwdriver or a stanley knife, they are going to be pointing a 9mm at you and you better be quick pulling your one out!

Guns, fine by me for the right people in the right circumstances, everyone having the right to carry guns, no thanks.

Forget this "everyone" business. I'll pick a name at random from the Bondi dead. You then have to look their widow in the eye and say you're happy they were prevented from carrying.

"Everyone" is not some abstract idea. It's a collection of individuals. When you say no to everyone, you say no to any individual. An individual who you don't own and don't deserve to have power over.
