My thinking was more that it's a pretty low start up cost for people smuggling when you are charging 2-5k per person, just need a 2nd hand outboard and that 1500 quid super dinghy.

Maybe the British government could just cut out the smuggling gangs, rock up with a ferry and save all this at sea hijinks and take the 5-10k direct.

 

They're doing practically zero to stop them so we might as well cover some costs before giving them the 4-5 star hotel room at our expense.

Well we've given the French another what 10 million for absolutely sweet fa.

 

Whilst I see the idea behind paying them to do something, maybe we should rethink the whole 63 million scheme.

 

For each successful crossing we deduct 10k per person, as we aren't returning anyone and they're going to be here forever.

 

Would the numbers actually increase if we paid them zilch?.
