Alignment is one problem, guaranteeing the shackle wouldn’t undo is another.

With these sorted it could be really handy....

My Shackle does up with an allen key. Ideally as a harness bridge attachment it would also have been loctited. I'll try some things tomorrow.

Rupe, are you dead set on using the ZigZag?

You could just use a hitch and HC setup.  Connect the tether to the bona and when not needed take the tether off and clip into the middle hole on the HC as per usual.
Yes, I have a hitch set up too that I used the wrench with. Trying both at the moment. Feel safer on the zz for some reason but admit that the hitch should be better.

I have zz with simarghu tether and they work great together.

HC with split tether is Ok.

I love my Zigzag but I only use it for DRT, it just doesn't sit right with me to use it in an SRT setup, it feels too much like side loading a biner or something. It makes more sense to me to use SRT to access the tree bringing the DRT line up with you on your harness, installing a friction saver and switching over to the ZigZag, leaving your SRT line as an instant rescue line/"Quick it's lunchtime!" line. That way it doesn't matter so much that you've got a hitch on the SRT line.

I tend to agree and I think that's how I'll end up working it out. Occasionally staying on srt for simple up down jobs but carrying a separate Ddrt line when needed. We'll see.
