Is the 272 a synchro with the gears either side of the seat?

Don't know a whole lot about transmissions and gearboxes, but if i compared my old 35x and a leyland synchro model, how would they differ in terms of the driving experience. Does it have something to do with the way you up change gears? I know for a fact when im changing from 3rd to 2nd, i have to virtually come to a stop before i can change and the grinding stops.

yes the leylands down gear change should be smoother without double declutching

to make your s smoother double declutch and it should be fine

Blip the throttle to between clutch strokes to match the engine speed to the lower gear ratio and it will go in a lot easier. Takes practice.

here is a David Brown 1412, bought it for the engine but it,s to good to break, so it here to stay.
