Husky oil in Husky saws?

I was advised recently to only use Husky 2 Stroke Oil in Husky saws as they run hotter than Stihl and the oil can cope. (this was from a very reputable local chainsaw establishment)

Interestingly, one of the chaps I grind stumps for had a brand new Husky which seized after only a year. He'd been running it on Stihl Oil.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Husky dealers have had there knuckles rapped for this kind of info before , read your handbook for oil spec , you will note Husky recommend the use of Alkylate fuel ie Aspen . good fuel and a quality oil is the key not the Brand name on the side of the bottle ..

BS. Husky don't manufacture the oil themselves, neither do any of the saw co's.

Simple rule of thumb: Mineral basestock lubricant has the lowest lubricity and HTHS, earliest onset of thermal breakdown blah blah blah.

A grp3 synthetic base oil will handle higher temperatures than the above. A group 4 PAO will be even better and a group 5 POE the best.

The End.

For once I totally agree with you! :001_smile:

I also agree with everyone that recommended Aspen.

Usually use Stihl or makita one shots as don't use loads of fuel so only mix 5 litre at a time only time I had trouble was when they didn't have any in so bought 5 litre of pennine universal two stroke oil, didn't bother the huskies but used to kill the spark plug in my old Stihl 028 about every 3 weeks

Can't get Aspen round here so I use BT ultimate and Echo oil, a local dealer told me its half the price of the Stihl red I was using, but just as good, he also advised to use oil with the JASO cert? Been doing that for a couple of years now, same mix for my saws, strimmers, hedge cutters, con saw, hell even the four stroke mowers get it if I run out of straight petrol, have had no mechanical failures so far.
