A while ago I lost a few jobs to 2 separate unqualified Brits whose websites made claims that would have had trading standards on their case had they been back in the U.K.

Through my company lawyer, a web search and by calling in favours I managed to find information on each (pure gold) which when I confronted each party with the information, it resulted each in a swift return back across the Channel.

Many Brits run away abroad to escape from their past.

If their past is obscure online and their business abroad less than 'above board' then there is a good chance that they are hiding from something.

Seems a bit vindictive, the way you talk your business is thriving.

So why shaft a couple of competitors so much they have to leave the country?

Er...aside from poor tree work, misrepresentation, false claims, lies and serious criminal records one of which was so serious that I then found myself with a duty of care to inform his immediate entourage.

In the end it was easy as the information was freely available in the public domain on other websites specifically set up to inform and keep track of such offenders.

If you lie about your qualifications then your probably lying about other stuff...

I suggest that like me you organise your own private investigation or simply google 'Serial killer walks free after converting to Islam in jail'

Daily Wail might have a few words on that...:001_rolleyes:

If it offended me so much that I felt the need to tell someone, I'd tell NPTC. It would be up to them if they wanted to complain to Trading Standards. The most severe outcome for the fraudsters would be that they were asked to remove the stickers, and I very much doubt that anyone would check to see if they had done so.

They (and you) are probably over-estimating the value of those NPTC stickers. I think I mention NPTC on my website, but don't want to plaster my truck with what will seem to my potential customers as random letters. You need to be in the industry to know what it means, and no one has ever asked to see my credentials, even when subbing. I occasionally get asked "are you insured?", but never "what for?" or "can I see your certificate of insurance?" I have these things for my own sake, not as marketing tools.
