Couriers are a disgrace!

I've also had problems with UKmail before. They were entrusted to return a package to us worth a couple £k ....we paid extra to cover the insurance (heaven forbid, in case the worst happened).

They said it was delivered to us - but we hadn't received a thing, not even an attempted delivery note.

So we contacted them to make a claim for the missing items... They said we'd signed for it.... so we asked to see the signature, but they didn't supply it.

That went on a couple weeks and then we got a knock on the door. Turns out they had posted it to the same number as our house (number 28) but in a completely different street!.... a builder had signed for it whilst the owner of the house was on holiday. The owner of the other number 28 kindly returned our package.

Insured or not, there is no way I would use UKMail again.

Other delivery companies are probably just as bad.

Fortunately some are excellent.

cheers, steve

Friday deliveries are a bit suspect as the delivery drivers run out of time and everything gets marked as undeliverable!

I use Ipostparcels and they are part of UKmail group and TBH, their online tracking and text alerts are good, their driver is good. They do damn long hours and he has delivered at 7-8pm on a few occasions!

It is often easy to slag them off but many are self employed and get cock all to do their work and no time to make a delivery so finding a remote farm down an unmarked farm track is often not good on a Friday afternoon - no assumptions that the OP was this type of delivery!

I had a mare with one shipment to Ireland and now use Parcelforce as they do an excellent two day delivery so use them for all Ireland bound parcels!

I think with the exception of a few premium company's, the rest are a complete nightmare. UKMail - email stating est delivery between 12:50 and 13:50, which I am in to receive. Text option selected - when one drop away...

No text, no call at door, no card thru the letterbox...

AND YET

the online tracking says "Attempted delivery at 13:07"

Total Barstewards Grrrrr

& thats because some courier who dosnt give a **** about you, your delivery or the company they work for, sat in their van nowhere near your property & transmitted the neccessary from their handheld device.

DPD for me , there tracking system is very accurate to a point of 10 mins I have left a local job to pull up at my House and track there van on a drop before me via my mobile .

I also rate DPD very highly, probably at the top of the list.

We've received umpteen deliveries from them and all have been on time; they also do really well at matching the correct street name with our house number.... unlike UKMail!

DPD are brilliant. You can track the driver from job to job till he is at your address. Spot on with the timings as well. I can almost set my watch by their accuracy. They give you an hour long slot and they always arrive at mine within a minute of the start of the slot time. Never had a problem with lies about deliveries either, cards not put through the door etc.
