Using local dealers.

Asking someone to effectively buy 2 batteries just is case one is faulty is a nice insurance policy, but will put a lot off.

All the more reason to buy just one assured product from there dealer maybe?

If it's £25 online and you pay £50 from the dealer, you have effectively paid for 2 batteries, but only got 1. The rest has gone to covering the dealer's warranty liability, which I accept was part of your point, but I'm just saying £25 vs £50 is too much. Up to about £40 I could swallow.

A very valid point as long as the products are of same quality.

Are online batteries delivered with acid in them or do you need to go to a local supplier to get that added?

How can the batteries differ if they look identical ( which presumably makes them the same brand) and the voltage cca etc are the same ? I doubt eggs would have missed these details. What is your argument if we presume the products are both the same as stated in the original post ?

If you re-read my earlier post you will note that I was not doubting Eggs in this case, but trying to point out that items that look the same may not be the same.

 

This is the sort of thing I mean. I googled a popular battery, Fiam FGC21803, and came up with this one. There are plenty of dodgy people out there willing to deceive.

 

In simple terms batteries vary on the number of plates, the more plates the better but less plates is cheaper to make.........

So, no need to go to the local supplier to get acid added.

I bought "Internet" landrover battery from some place on n Wales coast

 

It was incredibly well packed, with all sorts of seals on the acid - delivery driver had it upside down but only couple of drops of acid had leaked - it was half price of everybody else

 

Would definately use them again

 

Ordered pto drive shaft from malpas tractors last week - ordered online but they are close enough for me to collect

 

I think website says 2 days order time, went in to collect NOT THERE

when I asked "why no telephone number " they said and I kid you not " people kept ringing us up ".

Now over a week and no drive shaft - how popular they must be at harvest time ......

Lack of phone numbers seems to be becoming more common, I was after some bits for my ifor trailer last week and visited three dealers webs pages that didn't display a phone number! Madness, needless to say they didn't sell me anything that day.
