It's my landrover, All you landrover mechanics which is probably everyone who owns one I need your help. Started my landrover this morning fine tried to put it into gear and it wouldn't go:confused1:, The clutch feels soft and a low biting point. Also checked the clutch fluid and it was abit low but when i stuck me finger in it was black (not the usual colour i know). Topped up the fluid and now i can get 2nd and 3rd but not easy.

So what do you guys think ???

Bleed the clutch? It sounds like it could do with new fluid? That stuff absorbs water over time. Flush it out and bleed through the slave cylinder with fresh stuff.. Its a PITA and i have found that a new slave cylinder can be required........steel bleed nipples and ali castings....say no more.

Slave, master or fulcrum. Dark oil is the seals have been chewed, if it is at the top, then it might be master cylinder, short term answer is to bleed the system getting fresh clean oil at the bottom and look for a leak in the bottom of the bell housing. Good luck, it's simple mechano really.
