Stump grinding fatality...

Personally, I never walk around the front of a working machine when I can walk around the rear.

Never turn your back on a working machine or drag brash past one.

Give these machines a wide berth and make sure any work experience lads or newby numpties are kept away.

I've had 2 almost walk into a wheel, one only saved me giving him a hard shove away from the 4012 which he was actually angry about the other dragged brash backwards close to the HB20 and fell over just missing the head.

Some people don't seem to be able to see danger in rakes left lying about let alone more serious danger.

Scary ain't it, had the same type but with client just walking over and nearly into the head, frequency put the boards around my working area now just as a safety barrier to keep people out as much as keep grindings in.

He could have slipped and backed it over himself. I've seen the potential a few times with tracked chippers - reversing towards yourself, lose you footing and lack of experience/spare of the moment just hang onto the levers. With a stump grinder I guess you wouldn't need to go far over till your legs could get tangled.

Ah ok, I pictured him lifting the front whilst someone was at the back!! Silly me, I am tired though😂

I'm only speculating, no idea how it really happened.

I supposed he could have also been using a wheeled mini and been yanking/wrestling with it and again, lost his footing. Regardless, bit of a nasty way to go. RIP.
