Cobra Synthetic Cabling Merits?

What rope diameter do you usually use rich? Only used the 4 tonne one.

Wish there was a really small version (9mm) for small branches or unions.

 

We use the 2t and 4t cobra system. Dependent on the size of the defective limb. We often do some end weight reductions above suspect unions before installing the cobra system.

One of the Silver Birches we reduced a bit of end weight, deadwooded, cut back over chimney stack and then installed a Cobra System.

 

Beautiful tree to work on and climb.

Actually the cut back was over the chimney, the cobra was a lot higher. That should be ok as the smoke and flames would have cooled by the time they get that high.

What you say is very relevant to were you come from but not to the UK . Trees do burn here but mainly in the stove .

 

Only one fire damaged tree I've seen round here is an Alder which was struck by lightning about 40 years ago. It's next to a brook far from any houses and the tree is still growing minus the top.
