If you set up your notifications to notify you of a PM through your normal email address, you get a copy of the content of the message in the notification. This means you don't have to move it - just don't delete it from your email folder. So long as your email is fully text searchable (e.g. Outlook) then you can find things again so long as you can remember a keyword.

It doesn't deal with messages you send, but they are probably less important to keep long term?

As part of the new site I have been weighing up weather I can afford to offer increased message space or not, and I still am.

As for the app, if its an iphone then no you wont have to pay for the app again, just download it through your app store with the same id

How much is the difference ?? And then maybe we could all chip in

Do private messages add up to much storage compared to the 10 years of photos here? That must be a huge amount.

I really appreciate that we're allowed to upload photos here by the way.

Not in the grand scheme of things no. But its still adding to storage when all it takes is a minutes maintenance by the user once in a while to delete their old messages. The new site will allow image attachments in private messages which will make a difference to storage also.

Fair point, it's not much effort. I only mention it as I worry sometimes when I put a few pictures in a post.:)

Just a thought, could you put a download button in that puts the entire inbox into a text file that you can save on your pc?
