Same here but have been toying with the idea of trying the the green stuff, was it super / semi or ultra / fully synthetic? & any noticeable difference? Cheers

I went with the super purely because bought a new ms461 and as quite a bit of money I went with the dealer recommendation. Haven't noticed any difference and I've been running husky auto tune saws on stihl red until now which is supposed to be a no no but they're fine. I do think there's a bit too much worry about which fuel (supermarket stuff - no problems here) which oil or pay 3 times the price for this aspen stuff so that the £9 fuel lines last 10 years rather than 5 !

Cheers, I can't justify the cost of aspen but I probably get through a lot more fuel than others

If you can afford it then you don't need it cos you aren't doing tree work!

The green stuff is supposed to burn at a higher temperatures or something so it produces less carcinogenic fumes. So I was told by the cashier at the dealers. Less cancer is good by me!

Hi all,

I was just curious as to how many of you guys and girls use stihl 2 stroke oil in your machines.

Ive never used it and not had that many issues with my stihl machines, stihl do recommend you use there own 2 stroke oil.

The reason im asking is a mate has problems with a newer stihl chainsaw,he returned it too the place he bought it to be told the saw would not be fixed under warranty as he didnt used stihl brand 2 stroke mix...

Im of the opinion the seller is playing silly buggers.

What do you think...

If the saw showed signs of insufficient lubrication then I dont blame the dealer. There is no grounds to refuse warranty if oil other than genuine Stihl oil has been used unless the fault is a direct consequence of lubrication failure.

The red Stihl Hp oil is mineral oil and the green HP Super oil is semi synthetic, we encourage all heavy users to use green oil.

If the customer can demonstrate he uses Stihl oil in a Stihl product , then if there is a warranty arguement, it can only act in his favour
