Good evening

I've been offered this large oak trunk, about 60' long and 36" at the butt. It has a clear stem of 7m before any branches. I have about 10m of similar diameter turkey oak in my yard and I'm keen to avoid adding to my problems!

It does have a much narrower sap wood to my original turkey but the long clear stem is ringing alarm bells.

Anyone care to put their neck on the block so to speak?:001_smile:

Cheers

Tony

Thanks for your input Steve and Dean

Here are a couple of pictures of the bark and the butt. I couldn't see any orange colouration in fissures but I'm going to assume its Turkey oak. The customer can pay for its haulage to my yard or she can keep it as a 60' lawn ornament.

Cheers

Tony

Could still be robur. There's plenty like that out there. Sapwood looks normal to me .. What's with turkey oak anyway?

The all 4 sentences show why you probably shouldn't have replied to this thread.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing & probably best not shared...:sneaky2:
