entec no stress

As some will be aware I am in the middle of overhauling and bringing back to life a 1999 entec 35hp chippit, which has seen some neglect.

the guy who owned it, a friend of mine, intimated that the no stress had stopped working, just before the bearings went.

Given that tne battery was dud, and he had to jump start it each time, I wondered if this might be the cause, as there would not have been a power supply to it:confused1:

timberwolf have given me a price for a complete unit( which for some reason is nkot on their parts list), but is there not somewhere I can send it for repair rather than junk it?

Until I have rebuilt the machine and fully tested it on some brush, I wont know if its not working or not! Anyone else had the same trouble?

Get it working first. If the bearings were on their way out any movement between the no stress sensor and the toothed wheel it reads from could throw the stress control out.

I had an entec no stress box repaired by a local washing machine repair shop (no longer trading unfortunately) years ago - if it is faulty find a knowledgable geek who is handy with a soldering iron and knows the difference between diodes and resistors!

On our tw I noticed a disconnected wire, re connected it and no stress control stopped, most of the early timber wolfs and all entec machines may have been modified if they have had a new stress control fitted at any point since 2002, I can get a picture to show what wire to not reconnect if you notice it... Recently the machine was refurbed and the no stress was not working , I remembered the wire and problem solved. Maybe worth checking.

That sould be useful. This is a grey box, with a almost a ballpoint pen end that somehow reads the flywheel.

lst guy was told to spray wd40 on it! Hoping its what you have suggetsed

If the bearings are shot is the shaft OK, on the newer models there's a 3 piece replacement shaft unlike your model which is welded to the flywheel

Its a welded flywheel. and it seems ok. the larger bearing was still ok, but there was only one bearing instead of two together on the funnel side, so this may not have helped!
