A word of warning... I bought the JCB Sitemaster 2 full price a couple of years ago. It is advertised as "Guaranteed tough". I had it in my pocket when I climbed up onto the back of the Transit tipper. The screen cover (not the screen itsself mind) cracked. I sent it in for repair under the guarantee and was told by the repair centre that they would not repair or replace it because it appeared to have had an "impact" which was excluded from the guarantee. The phone is still usable albeit with sellotaped-up screen cover.

Buyer beware. If you can find one cheap it may be worth considering. There are plenty of used options for basic tough phones, try Nokia 5100 or 5210 if you want to go old school.

I've got an s5 in a spigen case. Dropped it multiple times and only time I've damaged it was when I was going down a slide and it fell out of my pocket without the case on and the screen cracked. Still plenty use able mind!!

I've got an iPhone as well but work calls get routed to the Nokia which fits nicely into the phone pocket in the back of my chainsaw trousers 👍🏻

Thanks for all the advice and user reviews. Nice one.

I'm getting closer to buying a phone because the speaker on my phone is barely audible. (it's gone really, really uber quiet). (Everyone calling sounds like they are macro sized and from Honey I Shrunk The Kids).

Somebody left me an answerphone message but it's so quiet and distant I had to give up and delete it. Sorry if it was you. :001_huh:

Okay, so I really don't need a SmartPhone (as nice as they look).

What I really need is a phone that:

- has a battery that only needs charging once per week.

- is dirt cheap

- has a torch built into it

- is waterproof

Do Nokia make a basic waterproof phone like that? (I already have a Nokia battery charger so that would save me a few quid).

cheers, steve
