Really ? , maybe its a coincidence then or hes the go to guy for Surgeons or contractors selling virtually new stuff by the dozen .

Pretty legit approach to be going around in a van taking quarter of the gears value in cash , ah yeah the more i think about it you must be right .

I must give them a shout the next time im selling something , theyre obviously paying top whack .

if i really suspected they were stolen ie at a silly price or even serials removed i would have reported it to the police , now if the police chose not to do anything that is out of my hands

The Police 'should' be checking all of the guys selling secondhand tools if they have any idea that things maybe stolen.

 

Or we could just all turn a blind eye.

 

Youre taking me up wrong here man , i was disgusted that the stuff was being sold but reporting it as i saw it .

I got close to the models and got the years to post them on here in case some of you guys were at the loss of them .

As i said i got the reg in the case it was of any use . Rural crime is an epidemic over here and the Gardai (police) have to deal with far more serious stuff than stolen saws .

A couple of guys i know were looking at some of the saws and i said to them that they should consider that it had been stolen of some guy who needed them .

Unfortunately i have had stuff stolen , literally brand new Husqy con saw , Stihl 440 , a trailer ..... do you really think that you can go around for a few years contracting without having stuff stolen .

I was making the point that the police would not act on third party info... And i felt thankful that in this instance nothing had been stolen off me , but i have major sympathy for who ever had their gear there .

All the fella has done is report on here what he has seen and has the van reg if anyone suspects that the saws are theirs, it is highly unlikely the local plod would have come out on one mans call and even less likely they would have done much if they had.

 

Think it is time to stop having a pop at the guy as he has done more than most and perhaps use the facility as Steve B has mentioned.

 

I do keep a note of most serials on the kit I service so if anyone has it pinched, drop me a line for the serial!

I'm thinking about de-valueing our saws by painting parts of them pink, scoring our name into the plastic with a hot needle or engraving the bars.

It is possible that the manufacturers could do more - another thing that can be done with autotune kit is storing the owners details on it - not often done!

our local town has a horse fair once a year and the whole town is literally full of vans selling second hand power tools and new Chinese stuff.

just a shame people buy from these type of sellers.
