Bobby, you could also consider getting a laminated lightweight bar with your new saw. Will shave off a bit of weight where is counts. Maybe more that you think, as the bar nose is furthest away from the front handle, the fulcrum and will be disproportionally heavy the further away it is. On my 461 I use a 20" standard bar and a 28" lightweight. The saw balances the same with either of them, and they weight the same.

Thanks to everyone for the contributions. Food for thought however I am leaning towards the Echo CS 501 with a weight reduction of 1.5 kilos which is significant coupled with a reduction in power of 0.75 kW which theoretically is still enough grunt for my needs. Radmore and Tucker which is local to me doesn't list it for some reason, Forest and Arb does.

Radmore & Tucker have got it; I asked them a good few months back very soon after the 501 was launched; website just not updated...

The new Echo 50 cc saws are nice and light. I have seen several ported on other forums that run quite well. They would also be about 3 lbs lighter than your 620.

Weight is important, but a factor that is often overlooked is the vibration levels.

Low vibrations is just as important as the weight of the saw.

Like others have suggested, you should go with a 50cc saw.

My weapon of choice is a Jonsered 2252. It weights 5 kg (0,1 kg more than the husky equivalent.) and has the lowest vibration levels in it's class.

This is music to my ears ! - Just sent mine off to Spud.

It's has been a great saw for a long long time and I expect even greater when Spud's worked his magic. :thumbup1:

I think mine was the first that he did for any Arbtalker . He did after he did his own and its still going strong . Only thing I have had to do is change one spark plug . Its on a Sugi pro light 15" driven by an 8 pin powermate .
