Throw line techniques

Practise is KEY. I use a throwline for 90% of my trees. Never a ladder.

So lads, something weird happened to my throwline today. Wonder if anyone can shed some light on it.

 

Storm damaged ash to start dismantling today. Was going to spike up and set my line, but it was a nice open crown and I thought what the heck.

 

Hand threw a line straight over the anchor point I was going for around 60' up.... And here's the weird bit:

 

 

EVERYBODY WAS WATCHING!!!

 

Bit confused as it's never happened to me before. What do I do now? Get a MEWP in?

 

The trick is to not bat an eyelid when that happens so everyone thinks its perfectly normal

The trick is to act all nonchalant about it, with that effortless air of cool.

 

Then trip over while putting your harness on.

If you miss 3 times with a throw line its ok to spike the tree.....discuss.....:laugh1:

Only with your pruning spurs treequip. I hope your not condoning using your dismantling spurs in that way!😂

So went back to finish the tree this morning.

 

First shot missed, second got stuck. Balls.

 

Was fun while it lasted.
