Cheers. When I learnt to climb we were taught to use both ends of rope with either prusik or blakes. I've since starting using one end of rope with the flip line but may get a rope lanyard too perhaps 5 to 7m length. However I've recently been doing a bit more recreational climbing and find the two ends of rope very useful especially in bigger trees than I would normally be working in.

Try hanging from the side D rings on a Willans and you probably will not do it again as it is rather uncomfortable .... no load goes on to your leg loops just up in to your rib cage ... it is certainly strong enough though , but as for working on spikes or changing anchor whilst sure footed then no problem !!!

The point with side attachment points is that they aren't rated in the event off a fall in the same way that a main attachment point is.

 

This doesn't mean the side "dee" rings would fail but it has a better chance of leaving you singing soprano

No and I bet it's never happened, within reason.

I never said it was comfortable.

It isn't.

I could probably hang my truck off them though.
