Talk to Gordon on TreeBuzz and buy a bulldog bone. That, a pantin and some 11mm or 11.7 is all you need.

Failing that a runner. But the bone is better :)

How much is a bulldog bone? Roughly, and do they have a CE mark?

£200 plus import duty, and no CE mark.

As a LOLER inspector where do you stand on that?

It's a fantastic device though, and worth every penny. I want one

Interesting dilemma. I'd do some research with the manufacturer and see if I could get their data. If I could establish MBS, SWL , WLL values, and had info on their testing results, I could ask the question to the legislators here in the UK;

1) having done some research, could I legally certify this bit of kit "safe to use"?

2) in the event of equipment failing, would my professional indemnity policy still cover me (or would they use the CE mark or lack of it to nullify my policy?)

3). Could I successfully defend my decision in a court of law?

I'd really have to fall in love with SRT to spend that much on a friction device!!

Lush day today. Craning out big sycamores. All done using Double quick Rope Technique...smooth, fluid, quick climbing with zero faff

Nice one Steve,

TBH, I dont see how SRT could aid a crane job. You gonna stick with the slow rope tech or stick with the double quick rope climbing?
