Where I come from big firms charge £1,500 a day for a two man squad, I always assumed it was because of the dangers involved, I know when people ask me how I can justify charging £200 a day I politely tell them chainsaws aren't toys!

I would say there are still plenty of dangerous variables no matter how skilled you are. Felling trees is not an exact science, no matter how long we've been doing it, we can only reduce the risks, not eliminate them?

Not that i've ever heard.

 

The only people I know charging near that are running specialist kit which costs a lot. Also they are generally smarter than the average bear!

who knows but there are plenty of customers who still go with the big firms even when they charge double.

If felling is risky, you climb and dismantle. Sure there can be human error, but you should choose a safe method.

 

I've cocked up a couple of times, was always stupidity on my part, not inherent danger of the job.
