Just waiting for Steve (seventhdevil) to get all excited. ...

Nice stem there. It's worth more than £50 and I would not mill it with a chainsaw mill. It's small enough for the wastage percentage to be too high.

I'll be passing late March/early April if you would like to sell it on.

I'll see what the guy says j and if he can wait that long any way, I know he's been on the phone today asking about it and it's across his front drive a nice house and grounds so looks a bit messy , I could not roll it any further at the time , he originally wanted it logged but that is one of the straightest bits of large Feild maple I've found so thought it's criminal to do that ! If he can't wait I'll take the Alaskan down as the tractor and cranes out of action.

Would it be worth cutting in to thicker boards If the Alaskan is the only option for the band saw later ?

That'll be lovely Matty

Can you not "parbuckle" it up onto a decent trailer?

I got this 30" x 3.6m stem on the trailer with just the drive creep on the autobox

I've done this a few times myself. Even logs nudging 1.5 tonnes aren't tricky if you get the rope right.

Matty, if you feel so inclined, bring the maple up to me and I'll mill it. I'll put in on the pile with all the rest of Steve's timber! :laugh1:
