Just an update, I went to see the manager today. She refused to speak to me saying she's too busy on conference calls all day. I said I'd come back tomorrow, she said she'd be busy then too.

Claims court it is then

Don't be fobbed off if they try to say he wasn't authorised. Make sure you have your paper trail sorted out. :001_smile:

Explain the scenario to head office including the most recent 'too busy' fob offs and advise the that unless they sort it out within 14 days you will have no option but to take the matter to the small claims court. If you have any photographic evidence, send them a copy.

Don't do anything on trip advisor until you have finished in the court.

A tactic for getting meetings which works for me.

Ring from a number they won't know and ask to speak to the relevant person. When you get put through, rather than asking 'can I come and see you tomorrow?' ask 'I need to come and discuss this with you, when is convenient for you?' If you get comment about 'I'll get back to you' then politely state that 'since you're at your desk' (you know this because you got put through to them) 'and I have my diary, lets set a date and time now while it's in both our minds, as otherwise it might get overlooked'.

I find the above to have a very high success rate.

I agree on contacting Head Office but I would not give them any time as you have already been reasonable enough. They should either sort it out or you start the ball rolling. I had problems with a well known car rental company over a very small invoice a few years ago. The branch I had done the work for kept fobbing me off so I waited in their car park until the front desk was busy then went in and asked in front of all their customers for their head office details as I needed them for the court papers. I had received an email by the time I got home 20 minutes later asking for details of how to make payment. I wouldn't bother with Trip Advisor. Just make sure that anybody you know gets to hear the story of why they shouldn't do any work for this hotel. :sneaky2:

A bit of shouting and raving might have changed her mind about seeing you. Nothing like a good scene if there are several customers around. Worked for my wife in a large electrical store once. They couldn't get the money out of the till fast enough.
