You (and many others) are too young to remember the horrors of three strand and the three knot system, be grateful for the improvements

OMG that seems a long time ago in 1985 when i started techniques and equipment have come on in leaps and bounds and of course they will keep improving

Three knot climbing is still taught on cs38,yeah its pretty basic and inefficient

We should make newbies do a season on "old school" to stop them bitchin about colour co ordinated biners and the like :laugh1::laugh1::laugh1:

I was taught the three knot system (not all that long ago) when I did my cs38. I think I used it once on a job when the rest of my kit got forgotten.., I do feel spoiled with all the kit available now.

Its not so much the prussic part, its that bouncy horrible three strand that was the bane of my life

Can you remember when multiplat came out? It was revolutionary at the time. I remember some hard days climbing with that in the rain. Horrible stuff.
