We cut down a weeping elm recently and this growth was under ivy nr the bottom , is this a true burr ??

Unfortunately I got 2 boards cut and then ran out of bar length on my 660 - 36" to cut any more of the log. I need to find/borrow an 880 with a 48" bar to cut any more.

 

Will update you when its cut.

Unfortunately I live on the Isle of Man which is great for about 4 weeks of the year when the motorbike racing is on but not so good when you need problems like this fixed!

 

I can buy a 42" bar and chain for £180 which is still less than the cost of hiring someone in and that may be the better route. The first couple of boards look promising albeit with a big rot hole!

Sweet slab there!! I appreciate there a cost implication but for me its an easy decision. Looks like a real clean cut well done.
