Depends what you class an an emergency? If someone's partner or child was injured or fell seriously ill then yes definitely let them go. If it's something like they forgot to lock front door or let the cat out then no. Common sense decision at the time I suppose.

Also depends on how big the job at the time of emergency is!

Hypothetical ish my backside! :). Of course they should carry on if they are able...I mean assuming they were capable of carrying out the work. Take it your guys down tools and went back to the yard? Re emergencies, I've had to leave jobs before now, it's always been with the children involved, and whoever im working for doesn't get a say in the matter in those circumstances. I wouldn't charge them for the time I had been on site though

Looking at the poll it appears to be an issue of how does the person with the home emergency get home - I'm guessing it's a 3 man team on site in one company truck?

Fair enough - if it's a proper emergency at home then there'd be no stopping me and I wouldn't stop anyone else from going.

I guess I'd be looking at how they get home? Maybe one of the 2 left can take them to the nearest station / bus stop? Can someone come and get them?
