A zillion is for lanyard use only not for srt

Yea, I just read that an utubed that Zillon, fella had it on a lanyard...

I was thinking though that a prussics a prussics a prussic. So a zigzag should have no trouble being used in SRT with somethin else slowin you down on a descent...

I know theres some scare mongering out there about the Zigzag and I was wondering if people are scarred of the using the Zigzag for unfounded reasons...

maybe even the makers are scarred of endorsing its use on SRT for the same reasons...

You know, someone reports a crack in one of the links using it in SRT and word gets out that they ain't safe to use..

anyway, just my thoughts on the subject...

[Petzl] "On the other hand, it is designed to function optimally when used in double mode, especially the fluidity of the unlocking process.

When used in single mode, if the user's weight is entirely or mostly on the lanyard, the unlocking process is significantly less fluid than in double mode. It is thus recommended to use both hands to operate the lanyard, with one hand holding the free end of the rope. In more extreme cases, a Munter hitch on the free end will allow for smoother movement."

You could use an ART positioner for SRT in the same manner, also rated for 'single line mode' very jumpy I found, no way.

The Bulldog Bone works nice, except bit of a knack to returning from branch walks, prefer Ddrt zigzag for branch walks

It does work well. I have had a go on a number of people's setups

One of the main things is that the ZZ grabs before the RW engages and really stretches out the ZZ. The bottom link then is taking all the sight of the load.

There was a vid on YouTube that was posted by a Kiwi or Ozzie dude via the treetools web site. He explained it far more eloquently than I.

I don't think it is the tether mate. It is the zig zag, it grabs a bit too reliably. Like when your hitch is a bit too tight and it engages before the RW does. If you see it happen it is obvious where all the load is being held. And the bit holding you in the air looks like it is made from Kit Kat wrappers

It really does stretch the zig and zags out. No wish I could find the video as it demonstrates it perfectly.
